The International Pharos Contemporary Music Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary!!!
The 10th International Pharos Contemporary Music Festival will celebrate its anniversary by bringing together, in Cyprus, some of the most iconic names on the international contemporary music scene: Ensemble Modern, Klangforum Wien, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich. The gathering of these music legends under one roof, in the span of just a few days, is a true historical milestone for the Cyprus culture. read more...

Celebrating the centenary of Poland regaining its independence, the Pharos Arts Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Poland in Cyprus present Wojciech Waleczek, one of Poland’s most promising pianists of the younger generation, in a unique piano recital. Recognised as an artist of uncompromising quality, Wojciech Waleczek claimed his first public victory at the age of 16, when he won the Third Prize of the International Competition for Young Pianists "Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam", and he has been enjoying a busy career as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestras all over the world ever since. The concert, on Thursday 15 November 2018, at The Shoe Factory, Nicosia, will include works by Chopin, Lutosławski, Paderewski, Schumann and Liszt. read more...

The Pharos Arts Foundation presents a recital with the fascinating German pianist Katharina Treutler. Acclaimed for her “great sensitivity and brilliant dexterity” (Classic FM), Treutler is a prize winner in a number of competitions, including the International Piano Competition Luciano Luciani in Italy, the Chopin Society Prize and the International Brahms Competition, and she has performed all over the world with such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Her recital in Nicosia, on 23 November 2018, coincides with the release of her new album, Beyond, and it will include works by J.S. Bach, Liszt, Franck and Prokofiev. The recital is organised as part of the German Language Weeks and it is kindly supported by the Embassy of Germany in Cyprus. read more...

Torleif Thedéen, one of the most celebrated cellists of our time, is visiting Cyprus for the first time, to join forces with the eminent German pianist Elisaveta Blumina in a fascinating cello and piano recital, as part of the Pharos Arts Foundation’s Concert & Recital Series. Having gained an international recognition in 1985 by winning three of the world’s most prestigious cello competitions, Thedéen has since appeared as a soloist not only with all the leading orchestras in Scandinavia but also with many of the world’s greatest orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Bordeaux and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, under the baton of such conductors as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Berglund and Neeme Järvi. An ECHO Klassik award winner, Blumina has released over 25 albums, which have been enthusiastically received by the press and earned her a reputation as an extraordinary musician. Her career to-date has taken her from halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Laeisz-Halle in Hamburg to Carnegie Hall in New York. For their recital in Nicosia, on Thursday 29 November 2018, at The Shoe Factory / 8:30pm, Torleif Thedéen and Elisaveta Blumina will perform a spectacular programme of cello and piano sonatas by Schumann, Beethoven, Prokofiev and Kancheli. read more...
